Promise Energy helps multifamily developers produce highly sustainable affordable housing with solar water heating and solar photovoltaics. Day Street Apartments is a 45-unit LEED Gold project developed by LA Family Housing to provide safe, affordable homes for families and individuals. The 12-collector solar water heating system and 36 KW photovoltaic system Promise Energy designed and installed are reducing operating costs and increasing energy savings for both the owner and the project’s formerly homeless residents. The solar hot water system offsets 1702 therms of natural gas annually, while the PV system produces 28,018 kWh per year. The project received sizable rebates from the California Solar Initiative Thermal program and the LADWP solar incentive program.
