Solar Case Study Client

Promise Energy collaborated with the Los Angeles Regional Collaborative for Climate Action and Sustainability (LARC) to host a tour showcasing Knob Hill’s many sustainable features. This new construction 39-unit affordable housing project was designed from the roof down, and saves energy with the 21 collector solar hot water system and 19.2 kW PV system installed by Promise Energy. In addition to the solar systems, owner and developer Veloce Partners incorporated thermoplastic (TPO) cool roofs, which help minimize the impacts of the urban heat island effect and keep the buildings cool during the summer months. The property was constructed to meet Enterprise Green Communities standards and exceeds 2010 Title 24 Energy Code Requirements by 20% - 30%. Other sustainability features of this project include:

  • Graywater Irrigation System
  • Drought tolerant landscaping
  • Stormwater retention system
  • Low-flow plumbing fixtures
  • Energy Star appliances & ceiling fans
  • Indoor Air Quality measures including natural linoleum, no VOC paint, non-formaldehyde cabinets, non-smoking building
  • Recycling & Edible Garden program
